A Special Integrity

Today I received the most touching of compliments – I know it sounds fartsniffy, but stick with me for a minute – It was a LinkedIn recommendation from a former employee.

I work hard every day to leave the world a better place than when I found it. Among the biggest impacts I have in the world is the environments I create (and have created) for my employees.

Admittedly, I don’t always get it right, and I have stumbled many times. But I always try to do better than before. This means that, if I’m doing it correctly, my employees today will have a better experience working for me than my employees of yesteryear.

What this experience has reminded me is that it takes a special integrity to circle back to humans from our past (be they employers or otherwise), whom we’ve had ups and downs with, and kind of thank them for their best efforts, ya know?
